The New Opportunities Project in North Motherwell was established in 2007. Its purpose is to support local families and strengthen the community by providing opportunities for people to participate in new activities.

The project has developed a Parent & Toddler group, a Community Café, Craft Group, seasonal play activities, family holidays, social events and activity clubs for local children and young people.

The project is located in North Motherwell Parish Church and is managed by a committee with members drawn from North Motherwell Parish Church, St. Bernadette’s Church and local community.

Central to the project is the belief that local people themselves have the skills and good will to develop activities for the benefit of all. At present more than 35 local volunteers from North Motherwell have undergone training and are participating regularly in running the project.
